WXTK "conserves" the news & airwaves
Today from around noon until the 2pm newscast, our local conservative radio station, WXTK, was running last week's news. Now THAT"S being conservative.
Around 1pm they were telling us "If the Red Sox don't beat the White Sox tonight, that's the end for them this year..." and later "A terrorist threat to the New York City transit system has the city on higher alert..." These were both re-runs of last Friday's broadcasts.
They ran current news with a corrected weather forecast at 2 PM.
Seems they figured it out.
But they ran at least the three prior newscasts from Friday or earlier without knowing it.
I spoke to WXTK's Dennis Dever, who's been a media fixture on the cape for 35 years, who explained it was a server glitch which their geeks were still working on.
This morning we recieved a comment below which I repeat here from Steve McVie.
"I am the Operations Manager/computer geek at Qantum. The truth is we have had numerous problems with our satellite programming since we took Qantum over in July and are working feverishly to vacate that facility and be rid of the computer system and satellite equipment that we inherited. In the meantime, we hope you can bear with us during this rough transition. "
