Proposals Needed for GALE Fund

YARMOUTH â?? The Cape Cod Foundation is issuing a request for proposals for grants to be made from the Gay and Lesbian Equity Fund.

The GALE Fund has approximately $20,000 to be distributed in the 2006 grant cycle. The objective of the fund is to raise awareness of and generate support for issues affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community on Cape Cod.

In the past the GALE Fund has provided support for youth groups, senior citizens groups, and diversity programs in schools and community organizations. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $5,000, however larger requests will be considered. All proposals must be postmarked no later than March 17, 2006.

The Cape Cod Foundation was founded in 1989 with the goal of expanding and enhancing the opportunities for philanthropy on Cape Cod.  The mission of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life for the people of Cape Cod.  The GALE Fund was established at the Cape Cod Foundation in 1998, and its mission is to provide funding and other resources to organizations and programs that support the LGBT community.  The goal of the GALE Fund grants program is to encourage informed, relevant, collaborative and effective programming about lesbian and gay issues, responding to the most pressing needs identified by the community. The GALE Fund has distributed approximately $120,000 to community organizations over the past seven years.
