Shakespeare on the Cape Returns for Second Season

Shakespeare on the Cape (SOTC) will be returning this summer with productions of Romeo and Juliet and As You Like It. Ignited by a highly successful and critically acclaimed inaugural season, SOTC is expanding this summer with performances scheduled throughout Cape Cod. Our 2005 productions of Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream, performed at the WOMR Schoolhouse, drew loyal audiences and unanimously positive reviews, with both productions being chosen as "Top Theater Picks for 2005" by The Cape Cod Times.

Performances will be held in repertory Sunday through Wednesday at The Art House (formerly The New Art Cinemas), a beautiful new theater in the heart of Provincetown. With generous community support including a grant from The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, we will be touring to three additional Cape Cod venues. One-time productions will be held at The Wellfleet Senior Center and The 15th annual Woods Hole Film Festival, with a four-day run planned for late August at The Harwich Junior Theater. Advance ticket sales, performance details, and further information including highlights from last season are available at www.shakespeareonthecape.org or by calling (774) 722-1422. Our full summer schedule is located below.

In addition, SOTC is pleased to announce that our summer productions will be touring to the new Guthrie Center for Theater Arts in Minneapolis. The Guthrie is one of the leading regional theaters in the US and SOTC's acting company is made up of alumni from the University of Minnesota/ Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program. Shakespeare on the Cape is the first theater company to be born out of this program and will be performing Romeo and Juliet and As You Like It, the first Shakespeare productions to be presented at the Guthrie's new Dowling Studio Theater, from September 14-24, 2006.

Shakespeare on the Cape will be returning to Cape Cod in October with additional productions. More information and our fall schedule will be available soon.
