Man drowns on Nantucket
NANTUCKET - A Marshfield man apparently drowned Friday on Nantucket. He was reportedly caught in a rip current in Clarks Cove. Lifeguards and rescuers pulled the man from the water and tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. Posted on 7/15 at 8:00 AM.
Off duty officer injured in Hyannis motorcycle crash
HYANNIS - An off duty Mashpee police officer was injured when his motorcycle collided with a car in Hyannis early Friday afternoon. The crash happened on the Attucks Lane service road between Route 132 and Phinneys Lane by the Sovereign Bank.
Sgt. David Ensko seen here being attended to by EMTs was rushed to Barnstable Municipal Airport and Medflighted to a Boston Hospital with lower body trauma but is expected to recover. The driver of the car Joanne Collins of Brewster will reportedly be cited for operating to endanger.

Barnstable police stop alleged carjacker at gunpoint on Route 132
HYANNIS - There was a dramatic scene on Route 132 by the Festival Mall early Friday afternoon. According to reports police received a report a woman may have been carjacked. They spotted this Chevy S-10 pickup fitting the description by the Wendy's on Route 132. Several cruisers pulled the vehicle over by Corson's Cadillac. It is not immediately clear if anyone was arrested but one person was taken away in an ambulance. Further details were not immediately available. Three arrested after Yarmouth beating, stabbing
YARMOUTH - Yarmouth Police are investigating a vicious beating overnight. The victim was brought directly to CCH by a friend. He was suffering from multiple stab wounds as well as multiple bruises and abrasions but doctors think he will survive. When police arrived at the alleged crime scene on Ivanhoe Avenue they found signs of a struggle including blood stains. Police located threes suspects, one reportedly hiding in the house the other two nearby in the woods. Arrested (left to right) were 21-year old Matthew Smith and 24-year old Kenneth Stande of New Bedford and 22-year old Michael Stande of Yarmouth. They all faces charges of assault & battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to maim. The motive in the attack is unclear. Armed robbery in Falmouth
FALMOUTH - Falmouth Police are looking a suspect in a violent robbery late Thursday night. Shortly before 10:30 police report a 17-year old employee of the Leary Family Amusement Center in Town Hall Square heard glass breaking. The clerk told police when he went to investigate a black male punched him and pointed a gun at him and demanded money. The clerk handed over several thousand dollars before the suspect punched him again and fled. The suspect is further described as being 6 foot to 6 foot 2, wearing a black ski mask, black hoodie and blue jeans. A K-9 dog tracked the suspect a short distance to a parking lot where he apparently had a getaway car waiting. Anyone with information is asked to call Falmouth Police at (508) 457-2527. Stabbing reported at Kendricks
HYANNIS - Barnstable Police are investigating another alleged violent act at Kendrick's in Hyannis. Early this morning a stabbing victim turned up at Cape Cod Hospital. The victim 19-year old Terrell Mair told police the attack happened at the controversial nightspot when a fight broke out on the dance floor over his cousin. Mair told police he got stabbed when he tried to intervene in the altercation. Meanwhile another police unit was stopping a vehicle on Bassett Lane around the corner and reportedly found the occupants with blood stains on their clothes. The driver 22-year old Henry Golay of Roxbury was arrested for operating with a suspended license. Two folding knives were confiscated as evidence. Only Cape Wide News caught the scene as the cruiser stopped the vehicle. The night spot is facing a license suspension for an incident last spring when shots were fired into the ceiling. Osprey nest sparks fire, power outage
CENTERVILLE - An Osprey built a nest similar to this one on top of a utility pole along Craigville Beach Road in Centerville recently. This morning the nest caught fire. NStar had to temporarily disrupt some power so firefighters could put out the flames and repairs could be made. No injuries were reported to any birds. Posted on 7/14 at 9:00 AM.
