Woman apparently drowns off Dennis

- A tragic end to the search for a missing swimmer off Dennis Thursday evening. Dennis fire and police crews including divers and boats along with Coast Guard units searched the waters of Nantucket Sound off Sea Street Beach after the report of a missing swimmer around 6:45 PM.
About 9:25 PM Coast Guard crews recovered the body of 80-year old Rita Karpova of Newton, MA who was vacationing with friends nearby. Officials are still investigating and an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

One injured in Dennis fight
DENNIS
- One person was being treated for a head injury following a fight in Dennisport Thursday evening. Police rushed to the scene at the Jonathan Edwards Motel on Route 28 about 7 PM. Further details were not immediately available. Posted on 8/03 at 7:30 PM.

Asphalt truck fire makes for anxious moments
DENNIS
- A fire in an asphalt truck was too close to propane tanks for comfort. Crews responded to the scene at 120 Great Western Road about 6:15 PM. Firefighters stretched hose lines across Great Western Road closing it to traffic. Once the water supply was established crews were able to remove the propane tanks and extinguish the fire. Child hit by car in Dennis
DENNIS - A child was taken to the hospital after being hit be a car in Dennis. It happened about 4:30 PM on Center Street. Police are investigating. Further details were not immediately available. Posted on 8/03 at 5:00 PM.

Young girl airlifted after hit by car in Eastham
EASTHAM - A three year old girl was flown to Tufts-New England Medical Center after apparently being run over by a car. The driver identified as Lisa Shelansk of Connecticut was reportedly backing out of a driveway on Glacier Hills Road when the girl approached the vehicle unseen by her and was struck. She was taken to Eastham Town Hall to meet the helicopter. Police are investigating. Posted on 8/03 at 5:00 PM.
