NO Stabbing at Wellfleet beach
WELLFLEET
- Cape Wide News thanks all those who sent inquires to us. One media outlet reported on it but we've confirmed that in fact there was no stabbing at Newcomb Hollow Beach late Sunday night. That was the initial report sent out to EMTs. Officials told Cape Wide News when we arrived on scene that in fact several young men got into a physical altercation. During the fight two of them cut their hands on some snow fencing at the beach. Both were taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. We observed one man being taken away in a police car who published reports indicate Wellfleet Police identified as 19-year old Steven Caminiti of Wellfleet who was arrested for assualt and battery. Police are still trying to sort out what happened but reports indicate the dispute was between some local young men and a group of British Tourist who were having a cookout at the beach. Police say additional arrests are possible. Here local and state police cars are seen in the parking lot. Posted on 8/12 at 11:00 AM; updated on 8/14 at 3:00 PM; Photo by Tim Caldwell.
