O'Leary to Hold Higher Education Forum at CCCC

Senator to speak on status of the state's new higher education reform legislation and other issues

State Senator Robert Oâ??Leary, chairperson of the legislatureâ??s Joint Committee on Higher Education, will speak and take questions on the status of new higher education reform legislation, as well as on other issues of importance to higher education, Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11am.  The forum will be held in Cape Cod Community College's Tilden Arts Center, Route 132, West Barnstable.

The Senator will offer his perspective on what is pending, what is planned, and how new legislation is expected to take shape, and he expects to informally engage the audience on these topics.

Senator Oâ??Leary graciously offered to hold the forum after speaking at length with Cape Cod Community College Adjunct Professor Betsy Smith regarding the stateâ??s goals as written into the new higher education reform bill.

All members of the public are invited, especially those interested in focusing on legislation relevant to the stateâ??s public higher education system.

Light refreshments will be served in the lobby of the Tilden Arts Center.
