Deadline set for local applications to tap state grant

The Harwich Cultural Council has set an October 16 deadline for organizations, schools, and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community. According to Council spokesperson, Pat Stackhouse, these grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Harwich â?? including exhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops, and lectures.

John Prophet also says the Harwich Cultural Council will entertain funding proposals for from schools and youth groups through the PASS Program, a ticket subsidy program for school-age children.

The Local Cultural Council Program, of which Harwich is a part, is a grant program of the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), a state agency. The MCC provides allocations to each of the Massachusettsâ?? 351 cities and towns to support cultural activities. This is the largest program of its kind in the United States.
