Rt 6 Barnstable crash; Dennis fire; Yarmouth water rescue; airport security breach

Two injured in Route 6 crash
BARNSTABLE - Two people were injured in a two vehicle crash on Route 6 just after 12:30 AM Wednesday. The collision occurred on the eastbound side before the large rest area between exits 6 & 7. At least one of the drivers had to be extricated from the wreckage. Both drivers were taken to Cape Cod Hospital by Barnstable and Hyannis ambulances. The injuries do not appear life threatening. State Police are investigating. Posted on 9/27 at 2:00 AM.

Basement fire damages Dennis building
DENNIS - A fire caused damage to the basement of a building at 291 Sea Street in Dennisport Tuesday evening. An electrical short may have sparked the fire around 8:30 PM.

Firefighters stayed on scene checking the fire hadn't extended into the floor or walls of the building. No injuries were reported.

Two rescued after boat capsizes off Yarmouth
- Two people appear to be okay after some anxious moments. Rescuers raced to Englewood Beach off Berry Avenue after reports of a person in the water just before 2:30 PM. A small aluminum boat had overturned. One person had already made it to shore but a second was clinging to a buoy. A fire department swimmer went out in a civilian vessel that was assisting and rescued the second victim. Both parties were checked for hypothermia but appeared to be fine. Officials probing security breach at Barnstable Airport
- Officials are trying to determine how a man got into a restricted section of Barnstable Municipal Airport early this morning. According to the Times an airline employee at the airport which was closed for the night noticed a heavy set male with dark hair in the restricted zone and notified authorities. Using a K-9 dog police located 23-year old Brian Peters hiding in a cargo plane. They later learned he had been committed by a doctor to the Taunton State Hospital and apparently did not want to go. He was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on charges of trespassing and breaking and entering and was ordered to undergo 20 days of psychiatric observation. Posted on 9/26 at 3:00 PM.
