Crash knocks down utility poles in Dennis
DENNIS - A crash on Route 28 between Depot Street and Mill Street in Dennisport sometime around 9:30 PM caused major problems over night. One utility pole came down across the road and a second was reportedly left dangling by the wires. A Nissan Pathfinder was found up against a third pole with wires sparking. The operator 42-year old David Terrill was out of the vehicle when rescuers arrived and was taken by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital with what are believed to be serious but non life-threatening injuries. Following treatment he was arrested by Dennis Police for operating under the influence of alcohol, operating to endanger, marked lanes violation and speeding. Power outages were possible in the Dennis area until NStar was able to stabilize situation. Route 28 was closed in the area into the morning as the damaged is repaired. Lamp cause of basement fire in Marstons Mills
MARSTONS MILLS - A lamp sparked a small fire in the basement of a Marstons Mills home Wednesday afternoon. Light smoke was showing when firefighters arrived at 200 Jones Road around 4:45 PM. They quickly knocked down the fire and ventilated the smoke. No injuries were reported. Posted on 10/04 at 5:15 PM.
Fatal crash involving wrong way driver in Bourne
BOURNE - A Mashpee man is dead after reportedly being struck head-on by a wrong way driver in Bourne Wednesday afternoon. Rescuers were called to the scene of the head-on crash on Route 28 southbound south of the Otis Rotary near the Route 151 exit. The call came in shortly after 3:30 PM and both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles with the Jaws of Life. They were rushed by Bourne and Falmouth ambulances to Falmouth Hospital where a 47-year Muhammad Fabir who was reportedly in the car hit head on was pronounced dead. 76-year old John Ericson from Cataumet alleged to be the wrong way driver was flown from Falmouth Hospital by a Medflight helicopter to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. The crash caused the afternoon rush between Bourne and Falmouth to turn into gridlock for several hours. Bourne Police are investigating the cause of the crash and whether charges will be filed. Woman injured in Provincetown motorcycle crash

PROVINCETOWN - A woman was taken to Cape Cod Hospital after apparently losing control of her motorcycle and hitting a sandbank. The crash happened just before 3 PM on a ramp from Route 6 to Provincelands Road that leads to Herring Cove Beach. The injuries do not appear life-threatening. Two car crash slows Route 6 traffic
BARNSTABLE - A two vehicle crash slowed traffic this afternoon on Route 6 westbound. The crash happened about 2:20 PM between exits 6 & 7.
One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with non life-threatening injuries by a West Barnstable ambulance.

Woman's throat slashed in Hyannis
HYANNIS - An apparent dispute over drugs and money owed came to a horrible end on a street that has been plagued by violence. A 21-year old woman was found on Fresh Holes Road around 1:30 AM with stab wounds to her throat and face. She was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital by Hyannis Ambulance. According to the Times a short time later 37-year old Monfrida James of Hyannis was arrested by Barnstable Police and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and mayhem which could carry a 20 year sentence. State Police had previously arrested James in June after a car chase in Hyannis. Just last month shots rang out just a couple of doors down from the stabbing narrowly missing sleeping children in a home. Posted on 10/04 at 4:00 PM.
Man arrested for cocaine trafficking in Dennis
DENNIS - Agents from the DEA, Cape Cod Drug Task Force and Dennis Police raided a home at Dennis Commons on Route 28 Tuesday evening after a lengthy investigation. They arrested 33-year old Melvin Brown and charged him with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana. Police seized a half an ounce of cocaine worth $1,800 on the street, a small amount of marijuana and cash according to a press release. Posted on 10/04 at 4:00 PM.
