Smoke scare at Cape College
WEST BARNSTABLE - West Barnstable firefighters were called to Cape Cod Community College about 6:50 PM Friday after smoke was reported in the Tilden Arts building. A problem with a filter on the ventilation system was to blame. There was no fire damage and firefighters cleared the smoke out. No one was injured. Posted on 10/13 at 11:00 PM.

Two men arrested in Hyannis while awaiting trial on other charges
HYANNIS
- Two men were arrested by Barnstable Police Thursday night and its not their first brush with the law. Police obtained a search warrant for a Shorey Road apartment in West Hyannisport. No one was home but the police Special Response Team recovered a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun, a .38-caliber revolver, a loaded .22-caliber revolver, and a box of .40-caliber full-metal-jacket ammunition. Police got arrest warrants for the renter of the apartment and a person whose ID was found in the apartment and staked out a Marstons Mills house where 27-year old James Mendes and 22 year old Henry Golay were nabbed in weapon and drug charges. Police also recovered several bags of marijuana and a quarter ounce of crack cocaine. Both men were awaiting trial for an August 21st stabbing in Hyannis. Posted on 10/13 at 4:00 PM.

Yarmouth man arrested after break-in, car crash
YARMOUTH
- Yarmouth Police arrested a local man early Thursday. It started with a car crash on Route 28 which led to 35-year old Adam Coleman being charged with operating with a suspended license, operating to endanger and leaving the scene of an accident after he was caught in nearby woods. During investigation police discovered items that had been allegedly taken during a break at the All Cape Maytag Home Center. Coleman was also charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony and larceny over $250. Posted on 10/13 at 4:00 PM.  

Tree blocks commute for short time
YARMOUTH
- A tree crew accidentally severed a large tree causing it to come down on the ramp to Route 6 eastbound at exit 7 about 7:30 AM. Fortunately no cars were hit and the tree was cleared in about 15 minutes.

Driver flees Route 6 crash, found short time later
SANDWICH
- Route 6 eastbound was closed between exits 2 and 3 for a time early Friday morning after a SUV rolled over. The driver was no where to be found when rescuers arrived but police using K-9 dogs and firefighters with a thermal camers tracked him down a short time later not far from the highway. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police are still investigating the crash and there's no word if any charges will be filed. Posted on 10/13 at 11:00 PM.
