Wake up and smell the taxes, Cape Codders

You won't be able to afford the coffee

Like so many Cape Codders, I found Deval Patrick a very attractive candidate.  My concern was whether the state was better off with a poor republican or solid democrat.   In order to make an informed decision I researched single party government, hoping to find examples of  solid legislation and prosperous times that were associated with single party rule.  Instead, what I found was example after example of  poor legislation and  debt ridden administrations.   This morning I picked up the Cape Cod Times and read that the budget chief for Patrick is looking to raise the meal tax on the Cape.  The man is not even in office yet and his people are talking tax increases.    I cannot imagine a republican talking tax increases at all, let alone before even taking office.

For those of you who loved the "Duke", here he comes again.

wishlist Also reported was the meeting in which a  transition group gathered together on the Cape to  put out a "wish list" of expenditures ranging from child care subsidies to subsidies for artists.  No mention, however, how these would be paid for, unless you read the article directly underneath it on the "budget chief weighs local tax options. "

Wake up and smell the taxes Cape Codders - You wont be able to afford the coffee.
By the way, guess who budget chief Leslie Kirwan worked for?  Yep, Mike Dukakis.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

P.S. I wound up voting for Christy.  The pols with there heads up there butts struck a note that rings today.
