Remembering the great Cape windstorm a year later
- One year ago this afternoon Cape Cod was shaken to the core as a storm litterally exploded on top of us. 100 MPH winds lashed the peninsula snapping countless trees like twigs. The "elbow" of the Cape from Eastham to Brewster was hardest hit. Several motorists became trapped on Route 6 between Exit 12 and the rotary when numerous trees felled across the roadway. Widespread power failures occurred and some service was not restored for about a week. Miraculously no one was seriously injured. Now take a look back through the eyes of CWN reporters and readers alike at the devastation. Posted on 12/09 at 4:00 PM. Photo by Tim Caldwell.
