Four Cs Theater, the theater program of Cape Cod Community College, announces auditions for all of its Spring theater productions on Thursday and Friday, January 25 & 26, 6:30-9:30pm in the Studio Theater of the Tilden Arts Center on the West Barnstable campus.
Roles are available for two productions and for staged readings as well.
The first production will be a staged reading of Tim Robbins' stage adaptation of Dead Man Walking, a gripping drama about life on death row, directed by P.J. McKey. This play is closely based on the award-winning 1995 movie, starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. Performances run March 2 - 4, 2007. About 48 roles for an intergenerational cast of a dozen actors are available. Actors should be prepared for cold readings and improvisation.
The second production will be When Shadows Fall, a world premiere drama by Larry Marsland, directed by Michael Tritto, Jr. When Shadows Fall depicts the loving relationship between an adult son and his ailing, elderly mother as she enters a Cape Cod nursing home. This ensemble piece recreates the merging of past and present, as time blends in the minds of the eclectic community of elders, their family members, and the dedicated nursing home staff. Performances are April 5-15, 2007.
Perusal copies of the plays will be on reserve at the College's Wilkins Library Circulation Desk by January 19, 2007.
For actors interested in a much shorter commitment, roles will be available for several plays (still to be announced) as part of Play with Your Food, a staged reading series of plays new to Cape Cod. Performances will be held on Friday evenings, February 16 and 23, 2007. Each separate play reading will require only a few rehearsals before its single evening performance.
Auditions are open to both college students and community actors, ages 16 and older. Actors of color and actors with disabilities are encouraged to audition. No previous stage experience is required.
