Driver killed in Sandwich crash
SANDWICH - One person was killed another is still in the hospital after a crash on Route 130 by the Cape Cod Eye Surgery and Laser Center in Sandwich around 1:30 PM Monday. Reports from the scene say two vehicles collided and one of them then crashed into some trees. Rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to free the victims who were then rushed to a hospital. 75-year old Frank Angelis of Mashpee was pronounced dead at CCH. A passenger in his car 74-year Terese Angelis was seriously injured and taken to CCH. The driver of the other car 26-year old A. J. Watts of Forestdale was not hurt. Sandwich Police are investigating the crash and sad say it apprears Angelis pulled out into the path of Watts. Posted on 1/08 at 5:00 PM; updated on 1/10 at 6:30 AM.
Two injured in Yarmouth crash
YARMOUTH - Two people were taken to Cape Cod Hospital after a crash in Yarmouth early Monday afternoon. The crash happened at the intersection of Higgins Crowell Road and Buck Island Road. The injuries do not appear life threatening.
Yarmouth Police are investigating if wet roads may have played a role in the crash.

Man charged with OUI drugs in Dennis
DENNIS - Dennis Police arrested a South Dennis man Saturday night on suspicion of operating under the influence of drugs. Police say about 11 PM Saturday Ptl. Patrick McCaffrey while conducting radar patrol on Mayfair Rd. in South Dennis observed a 2005 Dodge Stratus operating westbound at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the operator identified as 26-year old James M. Somers. While talking with Mr. Somers Ptl. McCaffrey noted that the subject displayed signs of intoxication but the officer could not detect any odor of alcohol coming from the individual.
Upon further investigation and drug evaluations conducted by Ptl. McCaffrey and Yarmouth Ptl Richard Fichter who are both certified Drug Recognition Experts Somers was arrested for allegedly operating his motor vehicle under the influence of a narcotic drug reportedly Vicodin and marijuana. he was also cited for speeding. Citizen helps nab man for assaulting officer, drug offenses
DENNIS - At approximately 9:20 AM on Sunday morning Dennis Police were notified by Yarmouth Police of a report of an individual who had been seen smoking (crack) cocaine in their vehicle and was now driving into Dennis along Route 28.
According to Dennis Police a short time later Patrolman Cleve Daniels observed a 2001 Gray Ford pickup, matching the description of the vehicle, traveling north on Route 134 in South Dennis. Ptl. Daniels stopped the vehicle in the area of Route 134 and Market Place and identified the operator of the vehicle as 41-year old Walter C. Ford of Yarmouthport. After a brief conversation the operator began to roll the drivers side window up, almost trapping Ptl. Daniels hands inside the vehicle. Ptl. Daniels was able to pull his hands free as the suspect drove off. The officer then attempted to pull the vehicle over a second time but lost site of the vehicle a short distance later.
A short time later a resident of the Knob Hill section of Yarmouth reported to Dennis Police that, from their residence, they had observed a vehicle drive down an embankment into the marsh along the Dennis side of Kelley's Pond (Bass River) north of the Route 6 overpass.
Yarmouth Police dispatched an officer to the Knob Hill section of their Town to assist in locating the vehicle, from the Yarmouth resident's vantage point. With the assistance of Yarmouth Ptl. Chris Kent acting as a spotter, he directed Dennis officers to where Mr. Ford had driven his pick-up, over a dirt barrier, down a 90 foot embankment into the marsh, behind the Kelley Bay Condominiums on Old Fish House Ln. in South Dennis. Ptl. Kent also directed Dennis officers to where Mr. Ford was found hiding in thick brush along the shoreline not far from his stuck vehicle. Mr. Ford was placed under arrest.
With assistance of the reporting Knob Hill resident, Barnstable County Deputy Sheriff Roderick and his K-9, a glass pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine was found in the marsh where the Yarmouth resident had reportedly observed Mr. Ford throw something.
Mr. Ford was charged with Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (motor vehicle) on a Police Officer, Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, Operating to Endanger, Failure to Stop for Police, Possession of Class B Controlled Substance (crack cocaine), and other motor vehicle violations. Mr. Ford was released on bail for his arraignment in Orleans District Court on Monday. Ptl. Daniels received minor injuries to his right hand and was treated at the scene. Posted on 1/08 at 2:00 PM.
