A Yarmouth detective checks out the scene of an assault on Elton Road             Tim Caldwell
YARMOUTH - One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital after apparently being beaten, possibly with a wooden pole or baseball bat around 2 PM. Detectives spent most of Monday afternoon on the scene on Elton Road looking for clues and a possible motive in the attack. Yarmouth Police now tell Cape Wide News that Patrol Officers Philip Magnuson and Scott Lundegren as well as Patrol Sergeant Patrick S. Carty arrived at the scene and located a seriously injured man being treated by Yarmouth Fire Department personnel for injuries to his eye, nose, and chin.
An on-scene investigation determined that three men had entered the residence and allegedly beat the man repeatedly with a blunt object then fled leaving the man seriously injured.

Barnstable County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Investigator John Szucs arrived at the scene and assisted in crime scene analysis and evidence collection. A follow-up investigation by Yarmouth Police Detectives Stephen W. Renzi and Charles E. Peterson led to the identity of the three suspects. The suspects were contacted, according to the Times with the help of a Barnstable Police dispatcher who helped translate Spanish and persuade the suspects to surrender. They arrived at Yarmouth Police Headquarters at 8:30 PM. All three were interviewed and subsequently placed under arrest.
