Underage drunk driver nabbed in Yarmouth
YARMOUTH
-  Yarmouth Police arrested a 19-year old for alleged drunken driving early Sunday morning. About 12:20 AM Patrol Officer Richard Fichter, Jr. reported observing a westbound 1991 Acura Integra traveling in an unsafe and erratic manner on Long Pond Drive in South Yarmouth. The vehicle also had a loud and defective exhaust system. Ofc Fichter, Jr. observed the vehicle swerve over the yellow centerline and into the oncoming lane of travel. He further observed it traveling at an unsafe speed of 50 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone as it traveled west on Route 28.

Ofc Fichter, Jr. stopped the vehicle on Route 28 in South Yarmouth and conducted a field investigation. As he encountered the operator, the officer said he detected signs of impairment and the use of alcoholic beverages. An interview of the driver Joshua C. Truscott of Brewster reportedly confirmed the use of alcohol and marijuana. Further testing by a series of standardized field sobriety tests were conducted and resulted in the arrest of Truscott for drunken driving.

Fellow Yarmouth Patrol Officers Kevin Antonovitch and Kalil Boghdan assisted in the stop and located a ¾ full bottle of vodka inside the vehicle prior to its towing. Truscott was transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court on Monday. Posted on 1/28 at 1:00 PM. Photo furnished by YPD.

Coast Guard searching for survivors after fishing boat apparently sinks
HYANNIS
- The Coast Guard is searching an area South of Cape Cod after a New Bedford based fishing vessel apparently sunk. The search began Saturday after the 75 foot Lady of Grace failed to return to port. An area of Nantucket Sound 12 miles south of Hyannis is the center of the search for the four crew members on board the boat. Searchers reported seeing an oil sheen and floating debris. The vessel had made contact on Friday saying it was cutting short its trip because of the harsh weather. One possibility that is being theorized is that freezing spray may have iced up the boat making it top heavy. Late Sunday divers found the vessel on the bottom on its side with the liferaft still attached. Read full story with video here. Posted on 1/28 at 1:00 PM. Photo from USCG video.
