HYANNIS - Two people suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries after this car went went out of control and crashed into a house in Hyannis just after 12:30 AM. The house at 217 Gosnold Street was unoccupied at the time and no one else was hurt. Sources tell CWN this gray coupe may have been going to fast on Old Colony Road and the driver identified as 22-year old Alexander Gostishchev failed to negotiate a turn onto Gosnold Street. It appears from photos the vehicle may have rolled at least once before impacting the house causing significant damage to a wall of the home. Barnstable Police continue to investigate the crash. 

Two injured in two-alarm Dennis blaze

DENNIS - The homeowner and a firefighter were injured when flames tore through a Dennis home Friday morning. The call at 11 Scargo Heights Road came in about 10:00 AM. 

A neighbor spotted smoke and ran to try to help the owner who according to reports refused to leave the house. Icy cold and driving winds made for a difficult battle and a second alarm was struck bringing in mutual aid from from Yarmouth, Harwich and Brewster. The owner listed as Philip McConville (right) and a firefighter were injured and taken to Cape Cod Hospital but are expected to recover.

A wire haired terrier was rescued but its believed two two airdale terriers perished in the fire.

Investigators are see here inside the gutted remains of the house searching for a cause of the fire.

Driver seriously injured in Mashpee crash
MASHPEE - Mashpee Police are investigating a crash that seriously injured the driver. The crash happened on Old Barnstable Road about 9:45 AM when the vehicle struck a pole. Rescuers reportedly called for a Medflight helo but bad weather prevented it from coming. Further details were not immediately available. 

Firefighters use "Jaws" to free driver in Yarmouth crash
YARMOUTH
- Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free a driver after their vehicle crashed in Yarmouth. Rescuers were called to Forest Road shortly after 8 AM where the vehicle had gone off the road into the woods. Once extricated the driver 69-year old Patricia Bassett was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries. Police reported a few fender benders on the mid and upper Cape as a few slick spots developed during the morning commute.
