Storm watches issued; Falmouth, Centerville fires; Mashpee scaffolding fall; Harwich crash; Warning to mariners

Warning to Mariners: Storm approaching
BOSTON -  Coast Guard units throughout New England are alerting mariners of an approaching storm that is expected to impact the area Sunday morning with anticipated winds exceeding 55 mph and seas over 20-feett.  A Coast Guard HU-25 Falcon Jet from Air Station Cape Cod is flying two storm-track missions today to caution off-shore boaters via VHF/FM radio channel 16 of the potentially dangerous weather system.  Coastal and off-shore Coast Guard cutters and shore-based search and rescue stations have also increased their readiness status to assist mariners in distress.

Heating sytem blamed for smoke in Centerville
CENTERVILLE - Fire officials believe a problem with a heating and ventilation system caused smoke to develop on the second floor of a house at 117 North Precinct Road in Centerville shortly before 10:30 PM. There was no damage and the house was ventilated. One person was evaluated at the scene.

Sofa fire smokes Falmouth basement
FALMOUTH - A fire that apparently started in a basement couch caused minor smoke damage to a home at 27 Green Meadow  Lane Friday afternoon. The fire was out when firefighters arrived around 5:15 PM. No one was injured. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Person injured in fall from vehicle
FALMOUTH - One person suffered an arm injury after reportedly falling from a motor vehicle. Rescuers responded to East Falmouth Highway around 5 PM and transported the victim to Falmouth Hospital. Further details were not immediately available. 

Two injured after fall from scaffolding in Mashpee
MASHPEE
- Two workers were injured after falling off scaffolding at a job site in Mashpee Friday morning. It happened about 8:30 AM at a site on Simon's Narrow Road. Both victims were taken to Falmouth Hospital, one with back and arm injuries, the other with an ankle injury. Mashpee Police and OSHA are investigating.

Four vehicle crash in Harwich
HARWICH
- Police are investigating a four car crash on Route 137 in Harwich sometime before 8:30 AM. The crash happened across the street from a day car center and reportly the vehicles narrowly missed a child waiting for the school bus. The conditions of the occupants was not immediately known as further details were not immediately available.
