To the editor:
Up until now, I had little or no interest in the upcoming Middleborough recall election. With the recent revelations however, that has now changed. After attending a few recent town meetings I can understand why this town is in such desperate financial condition. It became obvious that the present selectman and probably those before them were not watching the store. As a fairly new resident and taxpayer (2yrs) I watched with awe as these meetings proceeded loaded with articles giving 15% raises and buying back unused sick time from town employees eg. (the police chief) and more.
Then came the Casino proposal and vote! A billion dollar get rich scheme presented to the selectmen on a Friday and not available for taxpayers to see until the following Monday evening. They scheduled the vote for the following Saturday, less than a week after seeing it for the first time. Why the rush!
From what we now know, the selectman that signed this document didn't have a clue as to who this Glen Marshall really was. Who checked him out? His defenders like Selectman Adam Bond should also be on that recall list but we can wait.
In the meantime, a note to all the selectman in Middleborough, the honeymoon is over!
