Crash leads to operating under influence of drug charges
A Jeep smashed into a parked car. Police allege the driver was under the influence of drugs.
HARWICHPORT - A motor vehicle accident on Rt. 28 tonight at 8:20PM, sent a twenty-two year old Connecticut man to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. Stuart Appleton of New Caanan, CT will be cited by Harwich Police who allege he was operating under the influence of drugs, as well as driving to endanger, and failing to stay in marked lanes, after he mowed down a fence (right), went airborne and crashed into a parked car at B&B's Automotive. Bike vs. Car with no injuries
A child on a bike collided with a car in traffic; luckily the child was not injured.
SOUTH DENNIS - Dennis firefighters received a call at 4:57 p.m. Saturday for what could have been a serious situation - a child hit by a car on Route 134 at the Patriot Square shopping plaza intersection.
As it turned out, it was actually the front wheel of the child's bike that hit the side of the car- a "T-bone" collision -- and there were no injuries.
The incident allowed police officers a chance to lecture the child and his companions on the necessity of wearing helmets.

Holiday traffic jammed by Eastham crash
Three vehicle crash on Route 6 in Eastham caused major traffic backups. Lisa Olson
EASTHAM - Eastham Police reported major traffic delays following a three-vehicle crash on Route 6 shortly before 4 p.m. at the Brackett Road interchange. A county investigation officer was requested to investigate. It did not appear there were serious injuries.
Car vs. building in Harwich
A car struck a dry cleaner business in Harwich Saturday.
HARWICH - No one was hurt in this freak accident at the East Harwich Plaza around noon Sunday.
Eighty-five-year old June Breen, shown at right speaking with police, told officers that her foot hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing her to crash into the front door of Jiffy Dry Cleaners.

Man caught allegedly trying to steal copper wire from NStar facility
HYANNIS - A Taunton man was arrested after he was caught allegedly trying to steal copper wire from an NStar sub-station Sunday morning on Mary Dunn Road. Barnstable Police nabbed 33-year old Robert Murphy after a tip from Taunton and Middleboro police who had been watching him. Copper thefts have been on the rise as the value of the metal skyrockets. 2 men were arrested in a series of thefts in the Hyannis area on August 14th. (Read original CWN story). Murphy will be arraigned on Monday in Barnstable District Court on charges of larceny over $250, possession of burglarious tools, trespassing, and wanton destruction of property. He was also probably very lucky not to get electrocuted.
