Fisherman injures knee while sea clamming off Brewster flats
Assistant harbormasters return with the injured man and are met by EMTs at the dock.
EAST DENNIS – The Dennis harbormaster at Sesuit Harbor in East Dennis received a call at around 2:43 p.m. Thursday from the Orleans harbormaster reporting that a crewman on the fishing vessel Andrea Ruth out of Rock Harbor had injured his knee.
The Orleans harbormaster was unable to conduct a rescue and asked for mutual aid from Dennis. Harbormaster Terry Clen dispatched assistant harbormasters Rick Lamont and Bob Bach on the town’s 23-foot Wellcraft to rendezvous with the fishing vessel, which was engaged in sea clamming off the Brewster flats. At the same time, Clen contacted Dennis Fire and asked that EMTs be dispatched to meet the victim at the dock.
The town boat docked at Sesuit Harbor at around 3:24 p.m. and the injured man was examined by EMTs. He was moved from the dock to the parking lot by wheelchair. Refusing transport by ambulance, he was met by a friend who transported him from the scene in a private vehicle.

News briefs: Crash in front of 4Cs; reported hit & run in Falmouth
WEST BARNSTABLE - Two ambulances were called to a crash on Route 132 by the entrance to Cape Cod Community College shortly before 4 p.m. Barnstable Police are investigating and say it appears a vehicle carrying a mothber and two children tried to go around a vehicle waiting to turn left into the Cape Cod Conservatory when she collided with a vehicle driven by a 4Cs student leaving the college. The mother and two children were treated at CCH for minor injuries ...FALMOUTH - Police are investigating a possible hit & run crash in Falmouth. Reports say an Acura struck a tree on Route 28 near the entrance to the Falmouth Mall shortly after 5:30 p.m. Police apparently quickly located the vehicle and took the operator into custody. Further details were not immediately available.
West Yarmouth collision snarls traffic on 28
Two-car collision at the intersection of Baxter Ave and Route 28 in West Yarmouth.
WEST YARMOUTH - At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, these two cars collided at the intersection of Baxter Ave. and Route 28 in West Yarmouth blocking both East and West bound traffic.
Several people were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Forklift snags wires in Chatham
CHATHAM - A forklift operator was lucky to escape injury after snagging power lines in Chatham. The man was backing up at the Ryders Cove Boat Yard Wednesday about 3:45 p.m. when the lines were struck. NStar crews were called make the area safe and make repairs.
