  - At 4:15 p.m Sunday Barnstable Police and Fire responded to a pedestrian struck by a car in front of The Home Depot in Independence Park. Rescuers treated the victim, 25-year-old Julio Pinheiro of Hyannis, at the scene and then transported him to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. The windshield and body of the blue Dodge Neon showed obvious signs of the impact. The driver, 55-year-old Donald Rainwater of Yarmouthport, was questioned by police who are still investigating. No word if any charges will be filed. A County Investigation Officer (CIO) was called to take pictures and the car was towed by a flatbed and impounded at the Barnstable Police Station.
