Falmouth crash; BPD to get Tasers; Minor coastal flooding predicted

FALMOUTH
- Using the Jaws of Life, rescuers had to extricate the driver of a vehicle that struck a tree Sunday afternoon. The crash happened about 1:45 p.m. on Old Meeting House Road when a Chevy Corvette driven by 65-year old Donald Hardin of East Falmouth crashed into the tree. Hardin was taken to Falmouth Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Falmouth Police are investigating the crash.

Barnstable Police to get Tasers
BARNSTABLE
- The Barnstable Police Department is the first on Cape Cod to begin equipping officers with Tasers. The non-lethal weapons deliver an electrical charge to temporarily immobilize a suspect. Officers are receiving training and instructions on when to use Tasers to subdue a suspect. Although not required by law, officers must be Tasered themselves to understand the power and effect of the weapons.

Minor coastal flooding possible at high tide Sunday night

- The weather service says the combination of an astronomical high tide and persistent northeast flow could combine for some splash over and minor coastal flooding near the time of high tide around midnight Sunday.
