New overnight: More storms pound Upper Cape
FALMOUTH - (updated at 4 a.m.) The CWN storm team is covering
severe thunderstorms which rousted many on the Upper Cape from their sleep. Warnings went up about 12:30 a.m for the Falmouth-Mashpee area. Large tree limbs were reported down in West Falmouth. Trained weather spotters also reported hail and several roads in the area were virtually impassable for a time due to flooding. Scattered power outages were also reported.

Barnstable Police seek 2 in mall stabbings
HYANNIS - Barnstable Police are seeking two suspects in connection with the stabbings of three people during a large fight outside the Cape Cod Mall Saturday night.  Police say 18-year-old Christian Chapman (left) and 19-year-old Dino Tillman (right) both of Hyannis will face charges of assault and battery and armed assault with intent to murder. According to police, about 15 people got into the brawl outside the Regal Cinemas at the mall. Two of the victims are still in Cape Cod Hospital with serious injuries, the third was treated and released. It is still not clear what sparked the fight. Update: Christian Chapman was arrested in New York on August 20th.

CWN Storm Team: Torrential downpours gridlock traffic
CAPE COD
- (updated at 9 30 p.m.) Torrential downpours during the noon hour gridlocked already heavy day-tripper traffic. The hardest hit area was along Route 6 west between Exits 6 and 7 where state police reported 6 inches of water on the road for a time. Numerous crashes were reported including a rollover in Falmouth but there were no serious injuries. Additional storms passing through during Monday evening kept firefighters in several towns busy checking lightning strikes. No serious damage was reported. The storms also knocked down a primary power line on Setucket Road in Dennis causing a power outage.

Vehicle vs tree on Scenic Highway
BOURNE
- State Police are investigating a vehicle vs tree crash on the Scenic Highway (Route 6) by the Bourne Scenic Park late Monday afternoon. The driver was extricated and transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham with injuries not considered life-threatening. Further details were not immediately available.

Vehicle vs pole in Cotuit
COTUIT
- A vehicle vs pole crash created a big mess in Cotuit Monday afternoon. The crash on School Street snapped the pole. The driver was not injured and reportedly fled the scene but was caught a short time later. It was not immediately known if he is facing any charges. The road was expected to closed for several hours while crews replace the pole.

Fire damages luxury home in Sandwich
SANDWICH - An early morning cellar fire at 10 Birchwood Lane in the Holly Ridge community in South Sandwich, gave Sandwich firefighters a workout locating the fire's source.

Thick smoke filled the entire residence requiring ventilation. Once the fire was located, it was confined to the basement.

Sandwich firefighters were assisted at the scene by an engine from the COMM Fire Department. Two firefighters were evaluated at the scene.

Damage is estimated at $250,000. The fire does not appear suspicious.
