Hyannis bank robbed again, Barnstable Police and K9 Unit called in

This was the scene of a late-morning robbery in Hyannis on Thursday.

hyannis082808c_395HYANNIS - At 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, Barnstable Police responded to a bank alarm.  Two men had robbed the Rockland Trust Bank in the Kent's Carpetland strip mall on Route 28 across the street from the Barnstable Municipal Airport.

This same bank was robbed only a month ago on Thursday, July 24th.

The Barnstable Police Department called a Barnstable K9 unit to the scene and the bank was closed for business.  The K9 dog led officers down Route 28 past Spring Street to Ridgewood Avenue where the dog again picked up the scent from a pile of clothing found in the woods next to the Quality Printing Shop on Ridgewood.

When the County CIO finished up at the bank, he went to the Ridgewood Avenue location where he photographed sweat pants, a cap and other objects (right) which were then collected for processing as evidence.

Barnstable Police are investigating the robbery and we will update the story as possible.

K9 dogs can be a fleeing criminal's worst nightmare.
