Reported home invasion, assault in Falmouth

EAST FALMOUTH - Monday evening around 8:12 p.m., Falmouth police officers responded to a residence off of Seacoast Shores Boulevard in East Falmouth for a reported breaking and entering.  Upon arrival, Officer James Rogers encountered a female victim who exhibited obvious signs of having been physically assaulted. 

seacoasteastfalmouth_407The victim told Officer Rogers that a man knocked on the door and inquired about a former resident of the home.  The suspect then forced his way into the home and physically assaulted the woman, who was the only person home at the time.  The male suspect searched several rooms for prescription drugs, then fled the house on foot.

The suspect was described as a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans. 

The victim was transported to Falmouth Hospital to be treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

This incident remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department.

Falmouth drug bust yields marijuana and weapons

EAST FALMOUTH - Monday at 1:39 p.m., Falmouth detectives, officers and a Barnstable County Sheriff K9 unit arrested 30-year-old Kevin Joseph Valerio of East Falmouth on drug violations.  Drug activity in the Seacoast Shores Boulevard area came to the attention of the Falmouth Police Department via the local Crime Watch Association. 

The Falmouth Police Drug Task Force conducted an investigation over several months.  That investigation resulted in the drug buy/bust of Valerio.

Once arrested, Valerio consented to a search of his Seacoast area home.  During the search, officers discovered approximately one pound of marijuana, scales, a stun gun, nun-chucks and double-edged swords. The items discovered, made it evident that Valerio was dealing narcotics from his residence.

Valerio will be arraigned in Falmouth District Court Tuesday on Possession of a Class D substance, Distribution of a Class D substance, Drug violation near a school/park and Possession of a dangerous weapon.
