Child rape suspect prepared to flee

UPDATE: Child rape suspect prepared to flee

YARMOUTH - The Yarmouth Police Department acted in a timely manner in light of  child rape offenses that happened in August and December of 2007, and again in September of 2008 by arresting Kevin Ford at his Hyannis home Tuesday.

ypd_mugshot_kevin_ford_275According to court documents, "police received information that Ford was going to flee to Florida or Georgia."  31-year-old Kevin Ford of Hyannis has relatives in both states.

When police arrived at his home at 31 Norris Street in Hyannis late yesterday morning, Ford's bags were packed and it was apparent he was ready to leave.  Court papers also noted numerous past defaults.

The offenses occurred in West Yarmouth and the court complaints listed the use of personal weapons, the hands and feet of the 5'8" 270 lb Ford, against the victim.

Ford's personal information listed his marital status as divorced.

A pretrial hearing date was scheduled for October 17, 2008, with $50,000 bail on each count.  Ford is being represented by Attorney J. Andrew White.

The original story of Ford's arrest was reported here first by Investigative Reporter, Peter Robbins.
