WEST YARMOUTH - At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, firefighters were called to a fire reported by a neighbor in the single-story home at 55 Nobby Lane.  By 1:50 p.m., the smoky fire was extinguished, but the cause of the fire had yet to be determined as firefighters continued to keep hot spots in the ceiling under control.

According to neighbors, an elderly man lived alone at the residence.  He was not home during the time of the fire, but returned home as firefighters were working at the scene.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
