School closings for Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Cape schools announce closings Tuesday evening

In anticipation of Wednesday's snowstorm, several Cape Cod schools have announced closings and early dismissals for Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

As of midnight the following announcements have been made:

Closed - No Classes

  • Barnstable
  • Bourne
  • Dennis-Yarmouth
  • Falmouth
  • Harwich
  • Mashpee
  • Nauset Public
  • Sandwich
  • Sturgis Charter
  • Upper Cape Cod Voc Tech

Early Dismissals

  • Cape Cod Community College (closing at 1pm)
  • Chatham
  • Nantucket
  • Provincetown (closing at 1pm)
  • Wareham (closing 3 hours early)

A winter storm warning is in effect from 8 a.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday.  A total accumulation of 6 to 10 inches is expected in the Mid Cape area.  High winds 35 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected Wednesday afternoon.  Rain may mix with snow on the Cape leading to slushy, adverse driving conditions.  See the CapeCodToday.com weather page for updates and official advisories.
