Yarmouth crash injures a woman and child Thursday; Second crash: bus vs SUV
YARMOUTH - At 9:02 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010, the Yarmouth Fire Department responded a motor vehicle crash at 286 Buck Island Road. It was reported that the driver was trapped in the vehicle.
Yarmouth firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the 23-year-old female driver from the vehicle. She was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Earlier, a child in a car seat had been removed from the vehicle and transported to the hospital in a separate ambulance.
The condition of both the woman and child and unknown at this time.
A half hour later, the department received a call about a crash involving a school bus on Checkerberry Lane.
Upon arrival, firefighters helped school staff transfer the students to another bus.
The driver of an SUV got her flip flop stuck under the pedals causing her vehicle to slowly roll into the path of the bus. Damage to the bus and SUV were minimal.
