One man critically injured

HALIFAX - A helicopter crashed in woods near Route 36 early this afternoon, leaving at least one passenger with serious injuries, according to authorities.

Halifax Fire Chief Bill Carrico said the aircraft, believed to be some kind of "experimental helicopter," crashed about a half mile into the woods off Twin Lakes Drive.

He said it took rescuers about an hour to get the injured pilot, who suffered burns on 30 percent of his body and broken bones, out of the woods due to the rough terrain. ... Boston Globe.
