Sarah Peake to host health care reform law info session Thursday in Harwich

Important health care information for small businesses to be presented

State Rep. Sarah Peake will host an information session on the recently passed Massachusetts health care insurance reform law on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harwich Community Center.

The forum will be co-hosted by State Representative and House Majority Whip Ronald Mariano who was the architect of the bill co-sponsored by Peake.

Peake and Mariano will explain the new law and how it affects businesses.  They will also take questions from the audience.

The reform allows businesses to purchase health insurance as a group via a chamber of commerce or a trade organization.  As a group, businesses will have the opportunity to negotiate with heath insurance companies, something they could not do prior to the reform.

This method of purchasing health insurance is common in other states and is intended to make health care more affordable for business owners and employees.

The forum is open to the public and small business owners are encouraged to attend.

The forum will be held in the multi-purpose room of the Harwich Community Center on Oak Street in Harwich.
