Camp Edwards: Then & Now Open House, October 23 and 24

The public is invited to an open house at Camp Edwards on the Massachusetts Military Reservation on October 23 and 24, 2010.  The "Then & Now" open house will showcase the base's history and its current mission.

There will be Revolutionary War, Civil War, and World War II encampments and displays chronicling the WWII history of the base.

Tours of  Tactical Training Base Kelley will be offered.  The base is a replica of a Forward Operating Base, an individual military city residing at Camp Edwards designed to simulate military life in Iraq, Afghanistan, or the Balkans. 

Aircraft, military vehicles, artillery and weapons will be on display.  There will be  with information and kids games and activities teaching about the base’s natural resources and sustainable military training.

Information will also be on hand about the Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard and the US Coast Guard.   Saturday will feature the National Lancers, mounted honor guard.

Concessions will be available.    

The hours of the open house are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.   Both admission to the base and parking are free.  Attendees are asked to enter through the Main Gate off the Otis Rotary in Bourne.
