Upcoming cancer survivorship series starts next week at Cape Cod Hospital

Three-part "Living with Cancer" Series begins October 26th

Cape Cod Hospital Oncology Services is sponsoring a series of classes designed to help people live better after a cancer diagnosis. The “Living With Cancer” series will begin Oct. 26, with a class called “Exercise When You are Living With Cancer.”

Speakers will include Brenna Quinn, MPH, OTR/L, CLT-LANA; Amy Mawn, PTA; Mary Lou Zurlinden, OTR/L, CHT, CLT-LANA. They will discuss general tips for exercising after a cancer diagnosis, safety issues, local resources and information about physical and occupational therapy.

In addition to the Oct. 26 session, there will be two more classes in the “Living With Cancer” series. They are:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 2: “Eating Well When You are Living With Cancer” with Joanne Irwin from The Cancer Project.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 9:  “Communicating With Loved Ones About Cancer” with Jeffrey A. Gaudet, LiCSW, OSW-C.

All classes will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. and will be held in the Lorusso Board Room at Cape Cod Hospital’s Mugar Tower on Bayview Street. There is no charge for the series. To register for the class, or for more information, please call Kailen Ryan at 508-862-7588.
