Wareham Double Murderer Arrested

Wareham Thug Charged After Bodies Found

Richard Walling, 20, has been arrested and given two charges of manslaughter following a double murder at a Wareham motel.

Police were called to the White Pines Motel to investigate reports of a stabbing. There, they found the bodies of Ryan Aponte and Leonard Bolia, both of Wareham.

Bolia was found just outside the motel, while Aponte's body was found the following morning (by a dogwalker, 9 hours after the incident) behind the motel near the railroad tracks.

We interviewed the neighbors of the hotel who called the police. They described a sizable altercation, with maybe 6 people involved in a small area. They did not see the stabbing, just the victim stumbling out into the street.

"I'm dying, I'm dying," the man screamed over and over. The man was not masked. Walling then came out and, when asked why he stabbed Bolia, said, "He put a gun in my girl's face!"

Bolia had several large stab wounds, and his intestines had to be held in while CPR was performed on him. He took about 5 minutes to die. Aponte, a former soldier, laid in the woods all night before being discovered.

Walling, who was awaiting trial for a previous A+B/DW in Taunton, had also been involved in a Bourne street fight in November. He blew off his pre-trial hearing last Monday on assault charges stemming from that incident. He is being described to this reporter as "a wannabe suburban punk who will be very popular with some of the rougher elements in the prison shower. This town is turning into Brockton-by-the-sea.""

A witness to Walling's Bourne fight said that the police found a large Rambo knife on the ground near the scene, but no witnesses saw Walling flashing a blade in that scuffle. Walling is a runty 5'7", maybe 150 pounds, Friends describe Bolia as 6'2", 240.

Walling is the boyfriend of White Pines heiress Candace D'Italia, who was allegedly pistol-whipped (or had a gun near her face) during the incident. D'Italia is also not unknown to the local police, and was recently summoned to Falmouth Court on Assault charges, as well as Driving To Endanger. We are attempting to confirm rumors that Walling and D'Italia lived at the motel, and numerous sources have told us that it is so.

The White Pines Motel on right is a well-known Wareham crack motel, located on the Cranberry Highway across from Lindsey's Family Restaurant. Police are there frequently, most recently while making a huge drug bust Friday. The D'Italia family had recently taken over operation of the local institution. The pictures of the motel in this article are from a 2009 police raid.

Good rooms are still available at the White Pines Motel, 3137 Cranberry Hwy, East Wareham, MA. Phone: 508-759-2500. Ask for the Walling Suite.

Walling will be arraigned Monday, at Wareham District Court.

Keep an eye on this case, as it could get jiggy.

Here's why.

According to the owner of the motel at the crime scene, two masked assailants pistol whipped his daughter who works at the motel before attacking and killing another person at the motel. (David Curran interview)

This is inconsistent with the victims both being slain by Walling, who dates the motel owner's daughter. Depending on what was said to the responding officers by Mr. D'Italia, additional charges may be forthcoming.

Rumors around town have Bolia and Aponte being stabbed while trying to rob D'Italia/Walling of money/drugs they believed them to have in their room at the motel. Other people told us that the victims had been at the motel with the stabber for some time. We've heard rumors that the drugs in issue were painkillers.

We are attempting to confirm that a realistic-looking BB gun was found at the scene. One rumor has the toy being found on Aponte's body. Walling falsely claimed to have been pistol-whipped during his Bourne street fight.

Again, this is just what we've heard. Much of it is contradictory, and none of it is established fact nor presented to be established fact. We'll speak in more definite terms when any of these rumors are confirmed or debunked.
