Concert to increase awareness of substance and alcohol abuse on Cape Cod
This Thursday, January 13, 2011, the Varsity Girls will perform at the Sandwich High School Auditorium. Proceeds from the benefit concert, sponsored by Surefire Music and Primary Care Associates of Sandwich, will go to SADD.
The mission of SADD, Students Against Destructive Decisions (founded as Students Against Drunk Driving) is to provide students with the tools to deal with and prevent underage drinking, drug use and other destructive behaviors and decisions.
The local chapter of SADD is raising money for a mock motor vehicle crash scene to portray the realities of driving while impaired.
In addition to the Varsity Girls' performance, there will be information, food, raffles, merchandise and guest speakers including a guest appearance by Sandwich High School's own singer/songwriter Carly Tefft.
The Varsity Girls hail from Boston and feature four talented girls ranging in age from 15 to 18. The group was nominated for Boston Music Awards Pop/R&B Artist of the Year for 2010.
Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
