Firefighter and home occupant injured in Wareham fire

Both taken by Medflight to Boston hospital

 
Home occupant seriously injured & burned,  firefighter has ankle injury

WAREHAM - Firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire on Sandwich Road in Wareham Saturday morning, January 15, 2011.  Around 10:30 a.m. paramedics transported a victim of the  fire to an awaiting MedFlight helicopter.

According to emergency broadcast reports, the occupant of the house was seriously injured and burned in the fire.

The victim, believed to be in his 50s, was flown to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

A firefighter sustained an ankle injury at the scene.

Firefighters were hampered in battling the fire by various household items stacked high inside and outside of the house.

The home was destroyed in the fast moving fire.
