18-year old girl dies on way to hospital after failed CPR by police
MARION -Kourtney Vieira, 18, of Wareham, was killed Sunday night along Interstate 195 in Marion as she apparently was walking away from her car which had run out of gas.
MS Vieira was standing in a travel lane near a car when she was hit by a minivan according to local and state police.
On right and below the State Police examine the car in which Ms Vieira, reportedly ran out of on Route 195 in Marion around a little before 7 PM Sunday and was fatgally injured after being struck by another vehicle.
According to a State Police trooper at the scene, the victim's car was located a short distance from where they were struck. According to emergency broadcast reports, a State Police trooper performed CPR on the victim.
David Benevides, 71, of Onset hit the female victim
The 18-year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the eastbound lane of Route 195 in Marion, according to Massachusetts State Police. A preliminary investigation indicates that David Benevides, 71, of Onset hit the female victim with his 2008 Honda Odyssey while she was walking in the right travel lane.
MS Vieria was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham where she was pronounced dead. The victim was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham where a Medflight helicopter was standing by for the victim.
However, the Medflight helicopter left the hospital without transporting the victim.
