Change in alarm ordinance results in fines in Barnstable

In an effort to reduce the number of false alarms, the Town of Barnstable amended the town's alarm ordinance to require registration of all alarms, whether centrally-monitored or not, with the Barnstable Police Department by December 31, 2010.   A separate alarm registration is required for each alarm site.    Any alarm or monitoring company not licensed (after 12/31/2010, or) 30 days after the expiration date  (of the previous one-year license)  will be subject to a fine of $150.
Barnstable Court Reports show that many Barnstable residents and businesses are unaware of this amended law.   Click here for registration forms and more information.
