ARRAIGNMENTS

BROOKS, Selwyn L, 37, 790 Dixon Rd, Jonesboro GA; Class B drug possession, oxycodone, June 21 in Barnstable.  Pretrial conference scheduled for July 27.  Co-defendant with TORRES, below.

TORRES, Martha, 23, 926 N. Wilmington Blvd, Apt 11, Wilmington CA; trafficking in heroin/morphine/opium; conspiracy to violate drug laws, June 21 in Barnstable.  Pretrial conference scheduled for July 27.  According to police reports, Barnstable officers investigating a drug trafficking organization operating between California, Hyannis and Nantucket established that four individuals, three males and a female (Torres), were in possession of "thousands" of oxycodone tablets destined for Nantucket.  All involved were staying at the Days Inn, Hyannis.  Torres was tracked from the motel and seen depositing large sums of cash in an ATM machine.  She subsequently admitted to acting as a drug courier, flying from the West Coast to Massachusetts in possession of "seven hundred to one thousand oxycodone pills last week."  She stated she distributed these pills in Hyannis to another member of the group, receiving approximately twenty thousand dollars in return.

ADALIS, Maria, 23, 140 Dolphin Ln, Hyannis; larceny over $250; uttering a false check; forgery of check, May 3 in Barnstable.  Pretrial conference scheduled for July 25.

AHART, Guy W, 48, 15 Brenton St, Dorchester; larceny over $250, June 22 in Barnstable.  Pretrial conference scheduled for July 21.  According to police reports, Ahart placed ten items of clothing into a plastic bag at TJ Maxx, then attempted to leave without making payment.  The store notified police and Ahart was arrested.

JACKSON, Marjorie R, 46, 6 Bourne Bridge Approach (E Apt #14 (sic), Buzzards Bay; two counts, larceny over $250, September 30 2010 in Sandwich.  Dismissed. 

OBRIEN, Lawrence M, 51, 7 Circuit West Rd, Yarmouth; assault with a dangerous weapon, a tomahawk, November 10 2010 in Yarmouth.  Jury trial.  Not guilty.

VIERA, Russell, 20, 32 Gen'l Patton Dr, Hyannis; Class B drug possession, cocaine, June 22 in Barnstable.  Pretrial conference scheduled for July 26. 

DISPOSITIONS

MILLER, Melvin R, 54, 410 Bearse's Way, Hyannis; Class B drug possession with intent to distribute, January 29 in Barnstable.  Dismissed.

MAHER, Christopher B, 60, 29 Elinor Ln, W. Harwich; OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, June 13 2010 in Harwich.  Both counts dismissed.  Defendant discharged.

PARKER, Jacklyn M, 45, 140 Walker St., Falmouth; breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony, larceny from a building, larceny over $250, larceny under $250 at the Black Dog Co. in Falmouth on April 23, 2010. Dismissed (failure of witness to cooperate).

ARRAIGNMENTS

FOX, Nancy, 55, 115 Precinct St., Lakeville; Fox was arraigned on charges of OUI 2nd offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding from her arrest by state police on June 22. Police allege that Fox was traveling at 70 mph on Rt 105 when stopped. Pretrial conference was set for July 26.

INDICTMENTS

SHIMKUS, Albert P, 24, 23 Center St., Carver; Shimkus was indicted by a Plymouth County Grand Jury and continues to be held on $100,000 cash bail pending Superior Court proceedings on the charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (hatchet) and assault to murder from his arrest on March 27. On that date, Carver police responding to a report of a possible stabbing at 24 Center St, Carver, discovered the victim bleeding profusely from head and neck wounds.

DISPOSITIONS

WATSON, Betty A, 51, 630 Washington St., Boston; from an arrest on April 16 in Wareham, Watson entered a guilty plea on a charge of OUI 2nd offense. Watson’s sentence included probation to June 22, 2012, 24D alcohol and drug program, 45 day loss of license and $665 in fees and assessments.
