The weekend'snever long enough to satisfy all of the desires and needs we have forsun, fun and some downtime. I love doing the picks article every weekbecause it does give me the opportunity to imagine what I would do ifI had all the time in the world to do fun things with my family!Wouldn't that be nice?

If I could clonemyself and my family, here are some events I would attend. Hope youhave a fabulous weekend!

Here are someweekend-long events you might want to consider:

  • The Harwich Junior Theater has 2 performances that are happening throughout the weekend: HJT presents "The Jungle Book" will run at 4:00 PM Friday August 5, and again at 4:00 PM on Sunday August 7.

  • Exhibition: Children's Book Illustrations by Scott Nash is from 12:00 PM - 04:00 PM at the Centerville Historical Museum throughout the weekend and will run until the end of September.

  • It's Family Week in Provincetown from July 30-August 6. For same-sex parents raising children. The Family Equality Council sponsors a week of family-oriented picnics, clambakes, activities, unity and pride parades and more. Locations throughout Provincetown. www.familyequality.org.

  • Bayberry Quilters of Cape Cod - 30th Annual Quilt Show "Help us celebrate our 30th Anniversary on August 4-6! This year's theme is "Sew Many Pearls". While the parents are looking at beautiful, handmade quilts by local quilters, the kids get to have some fun. The annual quilt show features a kids scavenger hunt that will keep them occupied and earn them prizes. 09:30 AM - 04:00 PM at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School (Harwich).

  • Alice in Wonderland, A Musical Curiosity is playing between 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through September 4. Shows are performed at The Madeira Room at Vixen in Provincetown.

ForFriday August 5:

  • Farmer's Markets continue: Osterville Farmers' Market from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Osterville Historical Museum in Osterville and/or Provincetown Farmers' Market from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM in Provincetown

  • Patient Update is an event worth being available for, and it is free at the National Marine Life Center at Buzzards Bay. 10am is the time the update begins!

  • Fridays for Families is happening at 10am at Falmouth Museums on the Green. Hands-on Historical discovery activities for students aged 7-11 and their parents.

  • The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster has a couple of events: 2011 Mudflat Mania! happens between 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM and then the Weekday Family Nature Programs are scheduled for 1:00 PM.

  • Free Fun Friday 2011 offers free admission to everyone today at - Institute of Contemporary Art, 100 Northern Ave, Boston- Cape Cod Children's Museum, 577 Great Neck Road South, Mashpee- Springfield Museums, 21 Edwards Street, Springfield - Concord Museum, 53 Cambridge Turnpike, Concord

  • The CCCArts' Theater for Children is performing "The Ghost Net" at 9:30 AM and 11:30am at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis.

  • Bayberry Quilters of Cape Cod - 30th Annual Quilt Show is taking place at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich from 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM.

  • Head out to Brooks Free Library in Harwich to enjoy the Magic Show at 2:00 PM!

  • There are a number of free concerts to check out on Friday as well:

  • Summer Sounds Free Concert Series: "Funktapuss, 6-piece funk band." From 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at Aselton Park   (Hyannis)

  • Aselton Park at the corner of South and Ocean Streets in Hyannis, is a wonderful spot to take a picnic, a blanket or some beach chairs and enjoy a free concert by on the harbor. Photo courtesy of hyartsdistrict.com.

  • Summer Concert Series (Falmouth):" Johnny Vance and the Outsiders, classic rock." FREE! From 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at Peg Noonan Park in Falmouth.

  • Summer Concert Series (Sandwich) " The Beach Plums, acoustic folk, newgrass and 60s pop." FREE from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at Henry T. Wing School in Sandwich.

  • Music at Mayo 2011 Concerts : "Mentos & the New Horizon, FREE from 5:30pm-9pm."

OnSaturday August 6, 2011:

  • I want to send a happy birthday wish to The Sandwich Public Library! Sandwich Library Birthday Bash From 1-4pm, the Library will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its dedication and looking forward to the next 100 years. EVERYONE IS INVITED for birthday cake, music, games, and much more!

  • West Barnstable Train Station & Museum OPEN from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.The "Cape Cod Chapter, National Railway Historical Society maintains and operates the train station on donations and volunteerism. Cape Cod Central Scenic Train Ride tickets on sale at the ticket window in the train station up to train departure at 11:55am every Saturday from May 28 to October 15; Train Station and Museum open for families and visitors 9:00am to 2:00pm. All Aboard!"

  • Cape Cod National Seashore's 50th Anniversary Celebration is an all-day affair. Ranger-led programs, open houses and historic building tours. Concert at 7pm at Province Lands Visitor Center. Locations throughout the park.

  • Family Day: 2nd Annual Mermaid & Pirates Party from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM sounds like a blast! This event is for all ages. Model boat building, treasure hunts, teddy bear tea, art activities. Osterville Historical Museum, 155 West Bay Road, Osterville. 508-428-5861.

  • Music at Mayo 2011 Concerts enjoy Sat, Tenor Madness, from 6pm-9pm.Baker's Field Tent in Wellfleet

  • Cape Cod Scottish Festival is happening at John Simpkins Field in South Yarmouth between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM

  • Blueberry Festival is a nice event that's scheduled from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Green Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen in East Sandwich

  • Here's the highlight to my weekend, if we can get out there: 19th Annual Onset Blues Festival at Prospect Park in Onset from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
