Bourne Bridge: All lanes open through Thanksgiving

All traffic lanes opened Tuesday night

The Army Corps of Engineers announced that work on the Bourne Bridge has been suspended and all travel lanes over the bridge were opened Tuesday night.  The lanes will remain open through the Thanksgiving holiday.

Two lanes in both directions will remain open between this morning and Monday, November 28, when work will start up again at 9 a.m.

The current $8.5 million repair project is expected to be completed in a year. According to the USACE, the project involves the removal and replacement of structural steel secondary members, the strengthening of existing structural steel members, the replacement of structural fasteners, the removal of selected existing welds and the strengthening of selected gusset plates. Work began in mid-November.
