9th annual Barnstable Senior Center Turkey Trot a big success Wednesday

125 homebound seniors receive delicious holiday meals for Thanksgiving

The Barnstable Senior Center hosted their 9th annual Turkey Trot today.  A team of staff and volunteers led by Outreach Coordinators Claudia Borden and Judy Redd, prepared and delivered delicious holiday dinners to 125 homebound seniors in Barnstable.

The tasty meals were made all the more special thanks to area students. Students from the Horace Mann Charter 4th and 5th Grade School created Thanksgiving Day cards to accompany each dinner and kids from the 4H Club baked delicious cookies adding a sweet treat to the meals.

Area businesses were generous this year, providing food and monetary donations to make the mobile feast possible.

Heather Arrascue of the Barnstable Senior Center, said the center would like to thank everyone who participated in the community effort and made it possible to reach out to so many local homebound seniors.
