Cape Cod Foundation announces deadline for GALE Fund grant proposals

Deadline set for March 16

The Cape Cod Foundation has announced the deadline for grant applications to the foundation’s Gay and Lesbian Equity (GALE) Fund. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. March 16. The GALE Fund, established in 1998, raises awareness and support for issues affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) community on Cape Cod and the Islands.

The GALE Fund grants program encourages informed, relevant, collaborative, and effective programming about LGBT issues, responding to the most pressing needs identified by the community. “We prefer proposals that are collaborative and visionary, as well as reflective of the region’s geographic diversity,” said Lois Hirshberg, chairperson of the GALE Grants Committee. “We also encourage groups and organizations to work together.”

GALE Fund grants typically range from $500 to $3,000, though larger requests for comprehensive proposals are considered. Special consideration is given to projects in which the people who are targeted in the proposal will have a voice in the process, from conception and design to implementation and evaluation.
