Tractor trailer vs car at school bus stop in Middleborough, several injured

Route 28 closed for hours, no students among injured

MIDDLEBOROUGH - Several people were injured when a tractor trailer slammed into a vehicle stopped behind a school bus picking up students on Route 28 in Middleborough Monday morning around 8:30 a.m.

According to police at the scene, six ambulances responded to transport injured patients from multiple vehicles. At least two of the patients injured reportedly sustained serious injuries.  Several of the vehicles sustained heavy damage as a result of the crash.  There was no reported damage to the stopped school bus or people on the bus. 

State Police accident reconstruction specialists spent several hours investigating the crash.  Route 28 in both directions was shut down during the investigation. 

It is unclear at this time if weather was a factor in the crash, although there were heavy downpours throughout the area Monday morning.
