The Wareham Gatemen beat the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in Game 1 of the Cape Cod Baseball League 2012 Championship at Merrill "Red" Wilson Field in South Yarmouth Wednesday. The championship is a best of three series.  Wareham took the first game 5-4, with what CCBL writer John Garner, Jr. referred to as "late game heroics".

The Gatemen will host the Red Sox tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at Clem Spillane Field in Wareham.  A Wareham win means the championship. A Y-D win means the teams head back to Yarmouth for game three.
