Coast Guard medevacs 13-year-old from Martha's Vineyard to Boston Saturday

Boy suffering from serious injury, MedFlight not available

When a MedFlight helicopter crew was not available Saturday, the US Coast Guard stepped in to medevac a 13-year-old boy from Martha's Vineyard to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

According to a US Coast Guard release, when the staff at Martha's Vineyard Hospital discovered MedFlight was not available, they contacted the Coast Guard 1st District Command Center and a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod was promptly dispatched to the island.

The boy was reportedly suffering from a severe groin injury.
