Relocation of Freeman-Smith house could cause delays

A historic home relocation Wednesday may cause traffic delays in Chatham, according to an alert issued by the town.  On Wednesday, November 28, the historic Freeman-Smith house will be moved from 448 Shore Road to Summerhill Lane.  The relocation will begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day.

The work will be done by J. P. Kline Houselifting out of Harwich.

The historic home will travel along the following route (see map above): Intersection of Shore Road and Barcliff Ave. to Barcliff Ave. to Tip Cart Road to Crowell Road to Main Street to Barnhill Road to lot #13 on Summerhill Lane in West Chatham.

According to Zillow, the home was sold in February 2012 for $2,350,000.
