Tasers, cruisers and more to be discussed.

WELLFLEET - The Wellfleet Police Department will hold a public forum on Thursday, January 31 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Wellfleet Fire Station's training room. There are several items on the agenda including:

  • Drug lab issues: How the courts and police are affected by the the Annie Dookhan state drug lab scandal
  • New police cruiser: The department has been discussing retiring the current Ford Crown Vic cruisers. Many departments are currently using the new Ford Police Interceptors. The Harwich Police Department has offered to bring their new Interceptor to Wellfleet to give residents the opportunity to see what Wellfleet is looking to purchase this fall.
  • Tasers: The Wellfleet Police Department is looking to implement a taser program. Most of the police departments on the Cape use tasers. Officer Reid Booth of the Eastham Police Department and Lt. Kevin Lennon of the Yarmouth Police Department will be on hand to demonstrate and discuss the use of tasers.  (No one will be tasered during the demonstration.)

Other issues or concerns may be addressed should time allow.

The Wellfleet Fire Station is at 10 Lawrence Road in Wellfleet.
